1. In the sea of paranormal species (unicorns, werewolves, etc) how did you decide to write about goblins?
When I was a child, a goblin crept out of the dark and slipped her paw into my hand. The creature’s name was Lina, and I met her in a book by George MacDonald.
Lina was a dog–like creature with green eyes lit by amber fire, and a huge mouth with icicle–like teeth. Curdie, the hero of the story, could feel the real hand of any creature inside its flesh glove, and when Lina put her paw in his hand: “a shudder, as of terrified delight, ran through him… instead of the paw of a dog, such as it seemed to his eyes, he clasped in his great mining fist the soft, neat little hand of a child! The green eyes stared at him with their yellow light, and the mouth was turned up toward him with its constant half grin; but here was the child's hand!”
When I read those lines I felt it. Lina was a small part of George MacDonald’s book. After I met her, I knew that when I grew up I wanted to write a book full of that kind of goblin creature. So I did.
But Tyger Tyger isn’t just a goblin book. That would have been easy. No, Tyger Tyger is a sexy, scary, romantic goblin book. Because I love a challenge!
2. How did you come up with your character names? (Teagan, Finn, Abby, etc)
Finn is named after a great Irish hero, so he was easy. Teagan is Teagan because I loved the nickname, Tea. (And Tea and Finn just sound like they should be together, don’t they?) Abby is the best friend in the world, and I’ve always thought that Abby is a very friendly sounding name. I’d like Abby for my friend!
3. Who is your favorite character to write in the Goblin Wars series?
It changes everyday. Today it was John Paul Wylltson, because he smells of new books and old magic and is not afraid to give a good Tarzan yell at the dinner table when needed.
4. If you could have any magical power what would it be?
I’m not sure it’s a magical power, actually—but I would want to be able to mend broken people, and give them courage and strength. To me, that would be better than flying, better than traveling in time. Better than anything.
5. What is one place in the world you are dying to travel to?
Do I have to limit it to this world? If I could travel anywhere I would travel to Mag Mell. The creatures there fascinate me. I dream myself into Mag Mell almost every night.

to be able to mend broken people, and give them courage and strength.
That would indeed be a most previous ability/superpower and I think it is needed in our world today!
