Top Ten Books I Read in 2012
1. Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi
This book was one of the first books I read this year and oh my god it was amazing. The writing was beautiful, the romance passionate, and the action heart pounding. I am on pins and needles waiting to read the sequel, Unravel Me!
2. In Honor by Jessi Kirby
I adore contemporary YA and this is one of my favorites. I adored Jessi's debut, Moonglass, and this one was just as great. I can't stop recommending it because I think it has gotten a little overshadowed.
3. Wanderlove by Kirsten Hubbard
Traveling! I love books set in other countries and Wanderlove was such an exciting and interesting read. I loved the characters and my travel bug was definitely reignited after reading this book.
4. Across the Universe by Beth Revis
I was late to the show with Across the Universe, but it was a brilliant and mysterious read. I still have not had a chance to read the sequels, but I need to fix that as soon as possible because I need to know what will happen next.
5. Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma
As my recently posted review said, this book was a heartbreaking and beautifully written novel that left me in tears. I can't begin to say how incredible this book is and it's still in the back of my mind all these months later.
6. Sloppy Firsts by Megan McCafferty
This series is one of my new favorites! I love Jessica Darling and I love how relatable and real she is. I'm on book three now and am already sad to know I only have two more books left.
7. The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky
Wow, wow, wow. I know most of you are already familiar with this book, so I won't say too much. Just that this book is fantastic and needs to be read by everyone!
8. The Name of the Star by Maureen Johnson
Maureen's Thirteen Little Blue Envelopes has a special place in my heart and I now have a new favorite by her! This was a heart-pounding and terrifying mystery that I devoured.
9. The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin
Yet another book I'm late to read, but it was well worth it because I was able to start the sequel right away. This series is incredibly twisted and dark and I don't know how I am going to wait for the release The Retribution of Mara!
10. Divergent by Veronica Roth
I read both Divergent and Insurgent for the first time this week and oh my god amazing! I am obsessed with this series! The ending of Insurgent was incredible and I am dying for the third book to be released!
What were some of the best books you read this year?
I have yet to get on the Divergent bandwagon, but I have heard great things about it and it has been on my TBR list for way too long. However, I loved Shatter Me and am excited same as you for it!
