What's Been Going on With Me

As you might have noticed I've been a bit MIA lately. Luckily, this weekend I'm going to spend getting caught up on posts and reading. Since I wanted to share with you what's been going on with me lately, I figured what better time than today! This post is more personal than usual so feel free to skip this if you're not interested!

It's my junior year and as many of you know that is one crazy time.

1. I'm taking multiple AP classes and the work has been taking up a lot of my time. I have tons of readings every night and essays a couple of times a week.
2. As the year is winding down, the pace of everything is just picking up speed and my teachers are just piling on the work.
3. Junior year is the most important year of high school and I've been doing a lot to prepare for college.
     - I registered for the SATs
     - I'm taking the HSPAs next week.
     - I just found out I got into National Honor Society!
     - I've been talking to some of my teachers about writing recommendation letters.
4. Prom season is coming up!

All of this school-related stuff is taking up a lot of my time, but I'm hoping with HSPAs this week I won't have much homework and will be able to get caught up!

I also tutor elementary school kids two nights a week and work at my uncle's accounting office on Saturdays. Later this month I am also going to start volunteering every week at our town's wildlife rehab center.

Two weeks ago my cat passed away and that has been very hard. I've had her since I was in second grade and Mittens was such a big part of my life. She was 10 years old and had a tumor that was too aggressive to stop. I miss her so much </3

In other, more positive news, here are some other updates about me!

1. I just bought my midnight tickets to The Hunger Games! I can't wait!

2. I've been working out plans for this summer. Hopefully I'll be going to camp at Busch Gardens again.

3. My family and I are almost finished the second series of Downton Abbey--- eeee it is so good!

Anyway, that's my update for this nice Saturday afternoon. I hope to be back on track after the craziness of February.

  1. I'm so sorry to hear about your cat, Kelsey. I hope you are doing okay.

Good luck with all of your school stuff! Sounds like you will be ready once college application time comes. Also, YAY for Downton Abbey! I love that show :)

    1. Thank you, Liz! I adore Downton Abbey, so glad you do too!

  2. Well. I must say I am impressed. For a junior in high school I would say you have a lot going for you. I wish my high schoolers would follow your example. Sounds like you've got a bright future ahead of you. I am so sorry about losing your cat. We lost our dog this summer. We had him for fifteen years.

    1. Thank you so much! I'm so sorry about your dog :(

  3. Kelsey - I think you are amazing and awesome(!) to maintain a popular blog like you too, plus all the other stuff! My daughter is a year younger than you (sophomore) and I know a workload she has for her classes, track and other commitments. So I say pat yourself on the back for all your fantastic accomplishments and if you skip a few blogs posts - we'll survive and wait patiently for when you have time.

Sending you hugs for Mittens. We used to have a cat named Benny who looked a lot like Mittens, gray w/ the pure white chest. My husband had her for 23 years! (Really.) and I had to put my cocker down a few years ago when she was 13. It jsut about killed me. It's so sad when you have to say goodbye. I had a dream about my dog last night. But you've also got to remember what a great life Mittens had living with you and she wouldn't have wanted to be anywhere else. Now she's gone on to be a new kitty somewhere. Or at least, that's what I like to think. ;-)

Good luck on the HSPE's! My daughter has those too.

    1. Thank you for the nice comment, Kiki! Good luck to your daughter- it sounds like she has a lot on her plate, as well.

Losing a pet is hard, I'm so sorry about your dog! That is amazing about Benny (23- wow!!)

      Hope you're doing well!

    1. Thank you so much, Katie! I'm so sorry about your dog *hugs*

  6. Sorry about Mittens! I lost my 10 year old dog to cancer a couple of months ago, so I know how hard it is.

Sorry to hear about your worklog, too, but we'll all be here when you get the chance to blog again! :)
