Entice (Need #3) Review

Entice (Need #3) by Carrie Jones
Publisher: Bloomsbury
Release date: December 14, 2010
Source: Publisher
Other books in the series: Need, Captivate

Zara and Nick are soul mates, meant to be together forever. But that's not quite how things have worked out.

For starters, well, Nick is dead. Supposedly, he's been taken to a mythic place for warriors known as Valhalla, so Zara and her friends might be able to get him back. But it's taking time, and meanwhile a group of evil pixies is devastating Bedford, with more teens going missing every day. An all-out war seems imminent, and the good guys need all the warriors they can find. But how to get to Valhalla?

And even if Zara and her friends discover the way, there's that other small problem: Zara's been pixie kissed. When she finds Nick, will he even want to go with her? Especially since she hasn't just turned. She's Astley's queen.

Review:

Entice was a fabulous new addition to one of my favorite series. Romance, adventure, a kick butt heroine, pixies…what more could you ask for? The action started right away and didn’t slow down until the very last page. Luckily I remembered most of the details from the previous two books in the series (Need and Captivate) or I might have gotten a little lost. Zara is back and better than ever and proves herself to really be able to stand on her own two feet even though Nick isn’t there. I loved getting to read more about Issie, Devyn, and Cassidy. Those three always bring a smile to my face and lighten the mood in the especially dark parts. There were a lot of edge of my seat moments and I was always dying to find out what happened next. It was almost impossible to put down. Especially because each chapter started with a new update about how the pixies were effecting the outside world.

To elaborate, Zara is a great main character. She can really stand up for herself and proved to the others how strong a pixie she can be. Considering Nick was MIA for most of the story, readers really got to see Astley in a new light. I understand how Zara was starting to fall for him! Entice not only focused on bad pixies, but the good ones as well. Other creatures were also introduced and I’m interested in learning more about them in (hopefully?) the fourth book. The ending of this one was definitely a cliff hanger!

There were a lot of emotional times in Entice and my heart broke for how much Zara and her family and friends were dealing with. Things certainly were never easy for the White Clan!

A lot of twists and turns in the plot occur and I was pleasantly surprised to realize I rarely knew where things were headed. I am dying to find out what happens next! This review may seem a little vague but I don’t want to spoil anything for readers who haven’t had a chance to pick this up yet! All I can say is that if you’ve read Need and Captivate you just have to pick up Entice this holiday season!

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars

  4. Entice exceeded my expectations. I enjoyed getting to Astley better and really hope that we get more of his and zara's relationship when the next book comes out. It just is going to be WAY to long until it does come out.
