Friday Finds (2)

Some great books I've found this week, I can't wait to read:
(I got this idea from Should Be Reading )

The Chosen One by Carol Lynch Williams

"Thirteen year old Kyra has grown up in an isolated polygamous community without questioning her father's three wives and her twenty brothers and sisters. Or at least without questioning them much- if you don't count her secret visits to the Mobile Library on Wheels to read forbidden books, or her meetings with the boy she hopes to choose for herself instead of having a man chosen for her. But when the Prophet decrees that Kyra must marry her 60-year- old Uncle- who already has six wives- Kyra must make a desperate choice in the face of violence and her own fears of losing her family," Summary Courtesy of Goodreads

This book looks amazing. I saw it when it first came out in Barnes and Noble, but I didn't buy it. I definitely have to soon. The plot is so original, I've never read a book about polygamy.

Distant Waves by Suzanne Weyn

"Four sisters and their mother make their way from a spiritualist town in New York to London, becoming acquainted with journalist W.T. Stead, scienist Nikola Tesla, and industrialist John Jacob Astor. When they all find themselves on the Titanic, one of Tesla's inventions dooms them... and one could save them," Summary Courtesy of Goodreads

I love historical fiction, I definitely want to read this! I've read a few other books by Suzanne Weyn, and I love her writing style, so I'm sure I'll enjoy this! I love the cover, too, it's so mysterious...

Looking For JJ by Anne Cassidy

"Three children walked away from the cottages on the edge of town toward Berwick Waters. Later that day, only two of them came back. Alice Tully knows exactly what happened that spring day six years ago, though it's still hard for her to believe it. She'll never be able to forget, even though she's still trying to lead a normal life- she has a job, friends, and a boyfriend whom she adores. But Alice's past is dangerous, and violent, and sad...and it's about to rip her new life apart," Summary Courtesy of Goodreads

This book's been out a few years, I can't believe I've never read it. I love mysteries! I like this new cover better than the old one though.
